If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit,
for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man.
All things are connected.  Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth.

The Hardin Metro SPCA, Inc.’s main focuses are as follows:

• To promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people;

• To prevent cruelty to animals;

• To effect social changes in the Region and to ensure that animals are regarded as loving companions;

• To create educational material for people to read about animals; to provide emergency foster care for pets at risk, abuse, and neglected;

• To assist in finding loving and responsible homes for animals including but not limited to transporting to homes throughout the state and nationally;

• To alleviate the overpopulation problem in the communities by assisting with spay/neuter campaigns;

• To work cooperatively in placing shelter animals;

• To establish a mutual organization;

• To provide sponsorship of unadoptable animals; and

• To provide and regularly maintain a user-friendly informational and resourceful website advocating animal awareness and well being.

Vision for the Community

Our vision is a community in which The Society is considered the ‘pet source of choice’ for responsible pet owners, and

• All pets are provided with adequate food, shelter, medical care, companionship and appropriate training.

• No adoptable pets are euthanized.

• All companion pets are spayed or neutered.

• All pets are wanted and considered a part of the family.

Vision for the Organization

The Society’s vision is to be the community’s first choice whenever they want to adopt an animal, are looking for a lost animal, have a question about an animal issue or problem, or have a concern about abuse or exploitation of animals, and want a credible, reliable partner to address animal issues in the community.

Vision for a new regional facility

• Put mission under one roof—combining many planned educational programs and outreach activities with the very animals who are at the heart of our mission.

• Be accessible to all, providing the wheelchair access so our animals and many wonderful companions can meet.

• Celebrate the fact that pets are part of the family, housing our animals in a more homelike setting—cozier quarters will help make for happier and healthier transitions and complement the caring attention our staff gives every potential adopter.

• At a estimated project budget of $1 million+ — our new inviting and accessible facility will ensure that The Society is the place where many more best friends will meet over the decades.
